What is a fecal parasite screen?

This is a test of your cat’s stool, performed in-house by our veterinary technicians.

What does a fecal parasite screen reveal?

Fecals scan for various different intestinal parasites which most often cannot be seen by the naked eye.

How is a fecal parasite screen done?

A fresh stool sample is mixed with a solution and centrifuged. Next the mixture sits to allow eggs to float, and finally, a slide is prepared, and a veterinary technician looks at it under a microscope, scanning for any eggs and other protozoal parasites.

Cat stool sample instructions?

All we need is a fresh (i.e., within 24 hours) stool sample, about 1 tsp is enough. And yes, it is OK if it covered in litter.
